Even though the month of May is quickly coming to a close, we wanted to take a minute to acknowledge National Barbecue Month. That’s right, a whole month dedicated to grilling and outdoor parties with friends. And what better month to celebrate than the one that kicks off a whole summer season of outdoor BBQ fun?
We’re certainly all about hosting the best backyard bash your neighborhood has ever seen, but we’re also all about hosting with a healthy twist. Remember healthy living is all about balance and moderation.
Here are a few suggestions to get you started:
Hydrate with H2O
In terms of health benefits, you can’t beat a glass of water. Not only will it keep you hydrated, it’s free from calories, sugars and artificial flavorings. You can even make your own flavored water using fruit to kick it up a notch.
Get up and Move
No need to get too comfy in that folding chair. Use the time outdoors to get up and move. Offer games such as bags, horseshoes or Frisbee and allow people to be social while still being active.
Grill your Produce
Fruits and vegetables don’t just belong in salads; they belong on the grill too! Season them with a little oil, your favorite seasonings and pop them on the grill next to the burgers. Fruits such as peaches and pineapples hold up well and make for excellent dessert options.
