Celebrating Cinco de Mayo seems to be less about your heritage and more so about celebrating the fact that summer is almost here. Usually these types of celebrations involve lots of food and a margarita or two. We are certainly all for enjoying a delicious meal and not depriving yourself, but we also know overindulging too often can impact your fitness goals.
However, this doesn’t mean you have to say goodbye to chips and guacamole forever. Quite the opposite actually – homemade guacamole is packed with veggies and good-for-you fats (thank you avocado!). In general, hosting your own Cinco de Mayo get together with homemade food will be healthier and tastier than eating at a restaurant.
So gather up a group of friends and try a few of the healthy Mexican-inspired recipes featured below.
