3 Ways to Motivate yourself to Work Out

What is it about sunny days and warmer temperatures that cause us to go to the gym a little bit less? Maybe we’re tired of being cooped up indoors after a long winter or are just more so drawn to sitting on patios for happy hour. Whatever it is, we all know skipping the gym too many times isn’t in our best interest – especially with bathing suit season around the corner.

Next time you get tempted to skip out on a workout, try thinking about your fitness goals. Reminding yourself why you began your fitness journey in the first place can be a great motivator. If you’re still looking for some extra motivation, try one of the techniques below.

Set a New Goal
So the goal you set a few months ago isn’t working out anymore (maybe literally). That’s okay! Our fitness wants and needs change over time and it’s important to check in with them every now and then. Setting a new goal just might be what you need to get motivated again.

Work Out in the Morning
We know waking up earlier isn’t anyone’s favorite thing to do, but sometimes it’s the only way to ensure you’ll fit your workout in to your busy schedule. Think about it – there’s not too many other obligations that will pop up first thing in the morning. Get to the gym and get on with your day.

Try the Buddy System
Make plans to go to the gym with a friend. You can socialize and get your workout in for the day. Plus telling someone about your fitness plans holds you accountable. If you don’t live near someone you can exercise with, joining a group online can offer the same kind of support.
